Batteries for Renewable Energy Systems
Choosing the right battery for your off-grid or hybrid solar power system is critical. Solar batteries, sometimes known as renewable energy batteries, are different from car batteries. While the latter is designed for quick electricity discharges, such as starting a vehicle, solar batteries are deep cycle. This means they are capable of surviving prolonged deep discharges.
Solar batteries come in two types: flooded lead-acid batteries and sealed valve regulated lead acid. Flooded batteries have a longer life span and are more cost effective. Sealed batteries have less discharge of harmful gases than the flooded type.
